KageNeko 99 takes its name from the Japanese words “Kage” (shadow) and “Neko” (cat) — a reflection of the pedal’s dark analog tone, fading repeats, and mysterious character.
Inspired by the way vintage BBD delays slowly dissolve and drift into the background, the name captures the feeling of a signal moving through shadow and time.

Pedal details
Some pedals fade into history. Others return with a new soul.
KageNeko 99 is a one-off analog BBD delay revived through the StrayCat Revival series by TONECAT — a restoration project dedicated to rescuing forgotten vintage analog gear and transforming them into unique playable artifacts.
Originally built around a classic Japanese bucket brigade delay circuit, KageNeko 99 preserves the organic warmth and naturally degrading repeats that made early analog delays timeless. Carefully restored and reimagined with custom artwork inspired by shadow, signal, and fading echoes, each detail reflects the imperfect beauty of vintage electronics.
The result is a delay that feels alive — dark, warm, textured, and full of movement. From subtle ambient trails to saturated lo-fi echoes, KageNeko 99 carries the unmistakable atmosphere only true analog BBD circuits can create.
Not a reissue. Not a reproduction. Just one forgotten signal, found again.
