The Story Behind Tonecat
TONECAT started in 2025 with a simple obsession: making guitar pedals that sound great, but also feel like something you want to pick up, talk about and keep.
What began as a small father and daughter project in Melbourne grew from experimenting with circuits at home into a growing collection of pedals, characters and strange ideas — with cats, of course, finding their way into almost everything along the way.
The name TONECAT came from that same spirit: a little curious, a little mischievous, and always chasing the next interesting sound.
We're still a small independent operation, and that's something we want to keep. Every pedal is designed, built and tested with care, and every new release gives us an excuse to try something a little different.
For us, TONECAT has never been about making the biggest range or chasing the safest idea. It's about making things we're genuinely excited about — from serious tone machines to ridiculous little ideas involving chickens, cats, monster and everything in between.
We hope that when someone discovers TONECAT, they don't just find a pedal. They find a little world they want to be part of.
